- Self Publishing your eBook with Harborstone Press means that you earn 80% of all revenues received from the sale of your eBook.
Retail Price is the suggested price that You (the Author) set for your eBook to be sold in retail stores.
Wholesale Discount is the amount that is subtracted from the Retail Price, as a percentage of the Retail Price, when the retailer makes payment for each eBook it sells. For most eBook retailers the Wholesale Discount is not negotiable, meaning the retailer sets the Wholesale Discount. For any retailer that doesn’t set a required discount, You (the Author) will be in control.
Wholesale Price is the actual price that the retailer pays for each eBook sold at retail. Wholesale Price is calculated by multiplying Retail Price by the Wholesale Discount, and then subtracting that amount from Retail Price.
Author Profit (or Royalties) is the amount that You (the Author) will receive for each eBook sold (less returns). To calculate Author Profit, simply multiply Wholesale Price by 80%.
Example:
eBook Retail Price: $ 9.95
Wholesale Discount: 35%
Wholesale Price: $ 6.46
$6.46 x 80% = $5.17
Author Profit: $ 5.17
